The 28th of September at the O2 Academy 2 in London the Breakout Festival Showcase rocked the night, and some interesting bands took the stage to show the new face of music.
Things started to heat up when Bridgebound presented their american-style rock, with persistent electric guitars and influences that went from Alter Bridge to Radiohead. Too bad the lead singer struggled to hit high notes, but the ballad they played was soulful.
Reign Broke Better had a strong presence on stage thanks to their Gwen Stefani sound-alike lead vocalist and a good chemistry between each of the four members. They managed to rock the house with their eclectic genre, blending rock and funk and ska with swaggering bass lines, inspired guitar riffs and an impressive savoir-faire.
Deservingly the runner up of the night, and definitely to check them out in the future.
The Lunar Pilots captured the attention of the audience with their acoustic and melodic rock. A distinctive and rather sophisticated sound with a 70s vibe that made the audience crave for more.
Fragments of Faith were definitely the heaviest band of the night and hell broke loose as soon as the thumping beat of the opening track merged into massive guitar work, thrashy riffs and killer bass lines. Pounding drums never failed to impress and the voice of the female lead vocalist was the icing on the cake. A clear, malleable and never-out-of-tune voice that remained absolutely crystal even when screaming at the top of her lungs. They were loud and rock and they deserved to be the winners of the night. Words of Purvis closed the night with their solid rock, featuring crunchy riffing and a touch of surf inspired melodies. Talented musicians who could very well be the next best thing.
