Drm.am team was pleased to interview Stefano Mordini Pericle the black director(Pericle il Nero) a movie based on Giuseppe Ferrandino novel.
‘Pericle the Black’ is the story of Pericle Scalzone, called the black, who works for Camorra, an Italian Mafia-type crime syndicate in Naples. In the story he makes a mistake which will not be forgiven by his boss and therefore they have to kill him. Pericle runs away to save his life and goes to France, where he will meet a woman that will change his life, Anastasia. The movie is based on Giuseppe Ferrandino novel which has been a great success.

“The story is about a loser, I like to tell stories about humble people”

Riccardo Scamarcio is producer and main actor of the movie, while Stefano Mordini has been chosen as director. During our interview Stefano focused on the character of Pericle, described as an outcast. He talks about the importance of music in films, and how the role of music has changed and become more of a marketing tool whereas before it was an element that added to the films value, as examples of films where the soundtrack is works of art Stefano mentions the collaboration between Mingus and Cassavetes and Sakamoto and Bertolucci.

The movie has been nominated for 2017 Cannes Film Festival in Un certain regard category.
